What Is Love?

love

Love is a complex emotion that has many different meanings and uses. It can be a feeling, or it can be a commitment of intent.

Biological models of love suggest that there are two major drives: sexual attraction and attachment. In romantic love, chemicals like oxytocin and neurotrophins can flood the system to make us feel euphoric and powerfully drawn to another person.

Psychologists, however, see love as a social and cultural phenomenon. They also believe that it is influenced by hormones and pheromones, and how people think and behave in love depends on their conceptions of the emotion.

Compassionate love is a much more difficult form of love, but it also tends to be far more rewarding and meaningful. It takes time and effort and sacrifice, but when you find the right person, it’s worth it!

Relationships are cyclical. There will be days when you’re not all mushy-gushy in-love, and when that happens it’s important to remember that it’s normal. And when that happens, it’s also important to remember that it’s okay to be sad and angry about it.

Love can feel like an incredible high that’s impossible to describe, and it can feel devastating when it goes away. But if you stick with it, even when the feelings aren’t there, you’ll be able to get back to that state of love. Eventually, that high will come back and you’ll be able to enjoy all the beautiful, mellow, and sexy things about it again.
