Mr LKY, rest well.
On 23rd March 2015, Singapore lost a man who devoted his whole life to building this nation we call home. At 91, death is inevitable. But who would have thought, how Singapore needs to lose the most important person to Singapore to realize how great a man he is.
For the man most could never be, for the lover we all hope to meet, for the leader we wish is still with us, words are not enough to describe how his passing changed us overnight.
For the first time in a really long time, I feel united with fellow Singaporeans. For the first time in what seems like forever, people are actually pouring out positive emotions and thoughts, which literally flushed out the increasingly ugly and negative community online.
For the people who can’t stand the overwhelming charm and character of our founding father, please just shut up. For all these years of crude jokes, abusive language, anti-Singapore sentiments are like an empty well that goes deep into nothing but darkness. All of us wished for a unified Singapore and we are here now. So why are you still hating? Why are you still complaining? Why are you still such an ungrateful Singaporean?
7 days of mourning we have. 7 days of peace we need. For 7 days, please just shut up if you have got nothing better to say.
